Beauty Topics: Acne Skincare
For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; treatments however, are slowly improving. This is a skin complaint that affects many people around the world so scientific research to find a cure is fierce; now, some of these skin conditions are gradually being conquered. We can classify acne skin care products into 3 broad categories:
*Preventive
*Those available at a drugstore or over-the-counter
*Prescription only: Requires visit to doctor
Many skin care products are used as a measure to prevent acne; these include cleansers, make-up removers and other similar products that can help prevent the condition. Many people these days use products like this to maintain their skin; there use is not just confined to individuals who are suffer with the complaint. Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint; they work by limiting the production of sebum/oil and prevent clogging of skin pores. These types of products are reducing the chance of oil staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which assists the formation of the skin condition.
Skin care treatments such as exfoliation skin peels, clean the skin and help control the spread of the condition; most can even be purchased over the Internet in addition to normal outlets. The peels clean the skin by removing all surface pollution and dead skin cells which can block the pores. The growth of the skin care market has allowed even more specialized acne skin care products to be available without the need to visit the doctor. Treatments that are effective contain the ingredients benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; these include creams, cleansers and peels that slow down acne formation.
Although benzoyl peroxide works well, reactions can happen so it is suggested that any skin care product containing this should not have more than 5.5 percent of the active ingredient; alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are a safer skin care regime alternative if there is a problem. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; if finding something that works is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. If you do need to see your doctor or skin care specialist then he may give you a prescription for antibiotics or special ointments.
Your doctor can recommend that in order to extract the contents of the pustules that a small surgical procedure could be carried out; this is not something you should ever attempt yourself. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases. Tackling this skin condition is not the problem it once was and if treated properly permanently marked skin does not have to happen.
